Andy Chen (he/him) is a music director, conductor, and pianist based in New York City, currently serving as the Associate Conductor on the National Tour of CHICAGO.
Equally at home in opera and contemporary musical theatre, Andy has served as music director, music assistant, choir director, podium conductor, pit keyboardist, vocal coach, audition pianist, classical chamber musician, emergency baritone, and middle school music teacher.
Favorite recent credits include music directing LITTLE WOMEN and BRIGHT STAR at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ, and conducting Gilbert and Sullivan's TRIAL BY
JURY at the College Light Opera Company in Falmouth, MA where he has served as
an associate conductor for multiple seasons.
Andy holds an MM in Music Direction from Arizona State University, as well as a BM in Vocal Music Education from the Eastman School of Music and a BA
in Creative Writing from University of Rochester.
When he is not playing keys or waving a stick, Andy is a passionate music educator and poet. He prioritizes fostering welcoming and inclusive creative
spaces around the belief that happy artists make better art.
